St Alphege requires a countertenor, tenor and bass lay clerk. The posts pay £1,000 per annum and are subject to renewal from both sides at the end of each twelve month period. Successful applicants will be required to attend a Friday night rehearsal and two cathedral style services on a Sunday: singing with the traditional choir of Boys and Men and occasionally with the Girls' and Ladies' Choirs. Travel from Birmingham is simple: trains from Birmingham Moor Street to Solihull are regular and the journey takes just eight minutes; the church is in the centre of town, within walking distance of the station. There are opportunities to sing at major cathedrals throughout the UK. A successful concert and recital series also runs that lay clerks would be encouraged to take part in. Teaching work could be available to enhance the remuneration of the position.
Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 25.
Applicants should send a CV and two references to Joe Cooper, Director of Music, email [email protected] or to: 2 St Alphege Close Church Hill Road Solihull B91 3RQ
